Bed and Breakfasts, Country Inns in New York's Hudson Valley

Winter and Spring Getaways at Bed and Breakfasts, Country Inns in New York's Hudson Valley

New York's Hudson Valley is home to 38 B&Bs and country inns, members of the Hudson Valley Lodging Association.

Cornwall, New York, February 1, 2008 - -  "We've got a good thing to shout about here in the Hudson Valley," says Jack Trowell, proprietor of the Cromwell Manor Inn in Cornwall, New York, and head of public relations and communications for the Hudson Valley Lodging Association, consisting of 38 member bed and breakfasts, country inns and guest houses that span six counties: Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, and Columbia.

A handful of members formed the association in 2001 with the goals of networking and promoting valley tourism. Subsequently, innkeepers continue to cost-effectively market their establishments while tourists can search the lodging association's website to help them customize their visit.

Another perk for both the association and visitors is that the organization holds its monthly business meetings at various local venues. "We've been to a lot of attractions throughout the Hudson Valley, so that we're well versed on helping our guests do what they want to do, says Jack Trowell. We can speak intelligently about it, because we've been there; we've seen it; we've done it; we know how to get there; we know what the hours are....here's what to do on a rainy day; here's what you do on a sunny day," Jack continues.

Detailing the association's "Travel Passport" deal, Jack explains, "If you stay at four B and Bs over a period of two years; the first one you go to, there's a passport in your room. You have it stamped and signed by the owner of that B and B. You get two years to get four stamps; once you get the four stamps, you get $50 off your stay, no matter which B and B you choose. You also get some free stuff; maybe a free tour of West Point or a free tour of FDR's home; there's a list a vendors that we're working with that participate."
