SAA Celebrates First Anniversary Of Popular Round-Trip Nonstop Service Between The U.S. And South Africa

South African Airways is celebrating the first year of its popular round-trip nonstop service between New York (JFK) and Johannesburg, which was launched on May 1, 2011. The round-trip nonstop service has reduced the overall flight time in each direction by more than 90 minutes, making it even easier for our customers traveling to and from Southern Africa.

"South African Airways is very pleased with the over-whelming response we have received from our customers on this route over the past year to the enhancements that we made to our schedule between New York and Johannesburg," said Todd Neuman, Executive Vice President-North America for South African Airways. "We have seen a 25% growth in passengers on a year-over-year basis, with increase in demand coming from both the business and leisure sectors.

South African Airways offers the most flights from the U.S. to South Africa. In addition to the daily round-trip nonstop service from New York, SAA offers a daily direct flight (via Dakar) from Washington, D.C. (Dulles) to Johannesburg.

SAA Honored As "Best Airline To South Africa" By South African Tourism

South African Tourism in North America recently honored SAA as the, "Best Airline to South Africa" at the third annual Ubuntu Awards in New York City. SAA was recognized for its proactive collaboration with South African Tourism and extensive sales and marketing programs to further promote and develop tourism to South Africa from the North American market. SAA congratulates the other trade partners that were honored with Ubuntu Awards for their outstanding achievements in promoting tourism to South Africa:
