01/01 - 02/01/08         Perfume Bottles: From the Design Table to the Dressing Table, Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY 
 
Featuring more than 30 items from the Rakow Research Library’s special collection of drawings, rare books, catalogs, and advertisements, this exhibit traces the story of the perfume bottle from design and concept to the marketing and selling of the final product. The display includes original design drawings by Frederick Carder and René Lalique, perfume advertisements from the 19th century through the 1950s, trade catalogues, and even a scratch-and-sniff book on perfume. 01/01 – 10/19/08        Masters of Studio Glass Series: Joel Philip Myers and Steven I. Weinberg, Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY
 
In celebration of the major 2006 gift of contemporary glass to the Museum by the Ben W. Heineman Sr. Family, the Museum begins its series of focus exhibitions on the careers of individual artists represented in the permanent collection.
 
The first two artists to be presented are Joel Philip Myers (American, b. 1934) and Steven I. Weinberg (American, b. 1954). While Myers is known for his blown sculptural vessels that explore color, Weinberg studies optical illusion and reflection in his massive cast sculptures of colorless lead glass. Both artists are studio glass pioneers who have built successful practices, and who’s highly individual work has influenced many young artists working in glass today. 01/01 – 05/18/08        Crafted to Perfection: The Nancy & Alan Cameros Collection of Southwestern Pottery, Rockwell Museum of Western Art, Corning, NY 
 
The Southwestern Pottery collection of Alan & Nancy Cameros has been a labor of love. For over 20 years the Rochester couple have researched and discovered some exceptionally fine works by the finest contemporary and historical potters. Approximately 75 of the more than 200-piece collection will be on display at the Rockwell Museum in a never-before-seen public exhibition of this fine collection.
