ShamRockin’ For A Cure 2012

02-08-2012

ALPHARETTA, GA – February 7, 2012 – ShamRockin’ For A Cure is a St. Patrick’s Day party with a purpose – to raise funds to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.  Now in its fourth year, the definitive party on the north side returns to Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park Saturday, March 10, 2011 at 7 p.m.  In 2011, ShamRockin’ raised over $120,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and this year’s goal is $175,000.

The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to partner with ShamRockin’ for the second straight year through its participation as an Emerald Sponsor.  “We love ShamRockin’ For A Cure because it gives the Alpharetta CVB a wonderful event to market and promote,” says Janet Rodgers, Alpharetta CVB President and CEO.  “The event is not only for the local community; it also gives people who would like to experience Alpharetta an excellent reason to visit for St. Patrick’s Day.  We are excited that our hotels are offering great rates for visitors, allowing them to spend the weekend and enjoy all there is to do in Alpharetta both before and after the celebration.”

The brainchild of Chris and Mary Guiney, ShamRockin’ honors the Baker Family of Roswell, Georgia.  Gavin and Jake Baker, better known as “the Fabulous Baker Boys” were born with Cystic Fibrosis.  Parents Jon and Pam are crusaders – along with the families of more than 30,000 other Americans with CF - in the fight to extend the lives of Cystic Fibrosis patients through their tireless work with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  The Guineys, in a challenge to event planners, had this to say.  “2011 saw enormous gains in the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis.  This is a disease that we will see cured in our lifetimes and every dollar counts.”

Building off three successful years, the 2012 ShamRockin’ event will sell out at 1200 tickets.  For the $75 ticket price, attendees will be welcomed by 99X morning radio host Axel Lowe, and rocked by exciting local sound from HardCrush and the annual fan favorite 80’s cover band.  Food is being donated by ten local restaurants and all beverages will be complimentary.  The live auction will feature bikes from Killer Creek Harley Davidson, membership to Atlanta Motor Sports Park, and the ever popular remodeling services of Murphy Custom Builders.  Over 100 items will be available for bid in the silent auction.

New this year, Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta North Point and Hyatt Place North Point Mall are offering great hotel deals to ShamRockin’ attendees.  Both hotels are located in the convenient North Point Mall area with easy access to the Big Creek Greenway, a variety of area attractions and the North Point business district.  Stay at either hotel for just $65/night (plus taxes) and receive shuttle service to and from the amphitheatre at no additional charge.  For more information, and to purchase tickets, please visit our website at www.awesomealpharetta.com.
