GREAT VALENTINE'S GIFT
OFFER EXPIRES FEB. 15, 2012

Take your valentine to The Atlanta Opera! For just $100, you and a date can indulge your senses at The Golden Ticket, a comic opera based on the Roald Dahl book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Our deal includes two tickets in C Section of the Grand Tier at the Cobb Energy Centre at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 3, and a chocolate treat to share (how romantic!). Join Charlie as his "golden ticket" admits him into Willy Wonka's top-secret chocolate factory, where he encounters chocolate rivers, inflating blueberries, magic elevators and other delights.  The Golden Ticket is a poignant tale about wishes coming true.

LEARN ABOUT HISTORY
Enjoy it for less
Ruth and the Green Book chronicles a relatively unknown chapter in civil rights history, following an African-American family as it travels from Chicago to Alabama in the 1950s. The family is repeatedly turned away from hotels and other establishments because of their skin color.  "The Green Book," a guide for black motorists traveling through the Jim Crow South, comes to their rescue. This Center for Puppetry Arts presentation for ages 9 and older is directed by the brilliant Jon Ludwig and uses puppetry and animated projections inspired by the original Calvin Alexander Ramsey book about Ruth and her family.

IT'S DANCE. IT'S VIDEO. IT'S MAGIC

In an Atlanta premiere, Bridgman/Packer (Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer) Dance performs "Double Expose." Images and reality collide when modern media meets one of the world's oldest art forms. The piece turns two dancers into many and asks questions about identity, perception and expectation. You have to see it to believe it.
