Paris and London Gardens plus the Incredible Chelsea Flower Show 2008

01-25-2008

Taking Gardeners and Garden Lovers to Chelsea since 1998

Every gardener should see Chelsea at least once!  What could be more beautiful than seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night..or walking through the gardens of Versailles as Marie Antoinette once did. Then a quick and easy 2 hour journey through the Chunnel on the Eurostar and we are in London to take in its magic, history and gardens.  This is a very relaxed tour with plenty of time to enjoy each and every new experience.

In Paris we will see the stunning Versailles Palace of course, spending the day there visiting both the palace and the gardens.  Then Monet’s beautiful Impressionist Garden, where art comes alive plus enjoy lunch at Hotel Baudy Rose Garden, home of the first painters workshop in Giverny.

Once we get to London we visit the magnificent formal gardens of Cliveden, the romantic Chenies Manor gardens, RHS Wisley, 17th century Old Thatch Cottage & Garden including Tea (Enid Blytons beloved home).  We end our tour with perhaps two of the most beautiful and different gardens in England - Sissinghurst and Great Dixter plus spend a Full Day at Chelsea.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2008 will play host to a number of true gardening greats. Arabella Lennox-Boyd will return to the show after eight years with a garden for The Daily Telegraph. Christopher Bradley-Hole has designed a contemporary and abstract interpretation of a classical garden. Laurent-Perrier has commissioned Tom Stuart Smith, who will be creating a Show Garden of elegant understatement, and Andy Sturgeon will be returning to the show in 2008 with a garden for Cancer Research UK.  The show will also see the return of several visitor favourites, including Diarmuid Gavin with An Art Deco Hotel Garden, and Cleve West with a garden which is designed to explore how a garden can enhance a person’s well-being.  Up and coming talent at the show includes Robert Myers, who was awarded a Gold for his first Show Garden last year. Robert has designed a luxurious garden, with dappled shade, lush planting and water canals.  Sarah Price will also be returning to the show with her first Show Garden which will display a balance between traditional and modern sensibilities.  Another “one to watch” is designer Tomaso, who will be creating an organic agrarian garden, linking a green wheat field, with a sheltered potager.  Vibrant displays from some of the world’s best nurseries and growers, and small gardens, designed to make the most of small spaces, will also provide you with a wealth of inspiration. On top of all this, you can pick up a wide range of horticultural sundries and many new gardening products will make their debut at the show.
