TourCrafters Offers Affordable Land-only Italy Packages

10-20-2011

Libertyville, IL, October 20, 2011—A trip to Italy is affordable even in this depressed economy, according to popular Italian tour operator, TourCrafters.  The key is traveling in the “off-season,” which means November to March.  This is the time when it’s easy to cash in frequent flier miles, when “on-season” crowds have gone home, and when the weather in Rome hovers in the 50s and 60s—perfect for sightseeing and shopping.  (Well, it does rain sometimes, but there can also be days when it’s sunny in the 70s.)

TourCrafters makes it work with their bargain-priced, land-only, 4-night city breaks to Rome, Florence and Venice.  You can enjoy one city or (rent a car/take a train) visit all three on one trip.

The  Rome City Break costs $295 and includes arrival transfer, four nights at the comfortable 3-star Hotel Brasile, daily buffet breakfast, a Hop-On-Hop-Off tour, an aperitivo at Terrazza Caffarelli, service charges and taxes.  Several hotel upgrades are available: the 4-star Starhotels Michelangelo is $399, the 5-star luxe Hotel d’Inghilterra is $811. You can see the Eternal City’s important monuments on the tour, enjoy your aperitivo on the Piazza Venezia, (window) shop  for clothes and shoes on Via Condotti, or take an optional tour of the Vatican Museums (Sistine Chapel). Until December 31 you can also play Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck on a half-day Roman Holiday Photo Tour by Vespa.

In art-filled Florence the City Break costs $196 at the 3-star Meridiana Hotel, $252 at the 4-star Adriatico, $271 at the 4-star Rivoli and $435 at the 4-star superior Bernini Palace.  That price includes daily buffet breakfast, a gelato at the Gelateria Vivoli, service charges and a half-day guided tour of scenic Piazzale Michelangelo, the Gothic Duomo (cathedral) and Michelangelo’s famous David in the Accademia (plus an airport transfer at the Adriatico and Rivoli hotels).

Venice without the crowds!  Here the $189  City Break includes 4 nights at the 3-star Hotel Malibran; daily buffet breakfast; a tour  to the island of Murano, famed for its Venetian glass factories; free entrance to the Casino on the Grand Canal; and service charges. This price is so low you’ll be able to afford a cappuccino at the historic Gran Caffè Quadri on St. Mark’s Square.  You can visit the beautiful St. Mark’s Basilica, the pink Doge’s palace, the Rialto Bridge and the smart shops on your own, or you can take an optional tour.  Several hotel upgrades are available…up to the fabulous 5-star Luna Baglioni, which costs $883.

All prices quoted are per person, double occupancy, are subject to availability, are not valid during the Christmas-New Year holiday period and Carnival, .and do not include minimal city taxes, which must be paid directly to the hotels in euros.
