Ghost Stories, Tarantula Cocktails and a Jack the Ripper Walking Tour Offered at The Langham Hotel this October (reputed to be one of England's most haunted hotels!)

London, England (9/2011) - Those who love Halloween and all scary things associated with this favorite holiday will want to check out The Langham London's "Halloween Package" offered the month of October.  Not only is The Langham, London famed as Europe's first 'Grand Hotel', being opened by HRH The Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) on June 10, 1865, and regarded as the first hotel with elevators and air-conditioning but it also has an intriguing past as one of England's most haunted hotels.

This annual October package priced £333 (the same number as The Langham's most haunted room) features overnight accommodation for two persons, a Tarantula Cocktail for two in Artesian, a Jack The Ripper Walking Tour and a complimentary history book (complete with ghost stories) of The Langham, London from The Langham Book Butler. Guests may request to stay in room 333, subject to availability.

A bit of History and Ghostly Tales

The history of the site which The Langham now occupies can be traced back to 1797, when it was the location of the London mansion of the Third Lord Foley, Foley House, which was demolished and ultimately lead to what was in its day, the ambitious project to construct one of London's largest residential buildings.

The Langham was frequented by the cream of Victorian society as well as literary luminaries such as Sherlock Holmes' creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Oscar Wilde. But The Langham also has a history of acquiring some uninvited guests during its 146 year history, reportedly having up to seven ghosts.
