TEL AVIV'S TACHANA TO HOST SERIES 
OF OUTDOOR EVENTS THIS AUGUST

New York - August 9, 2011: The Tachana, Tel Aviv's former historic train station-turned-entertainment complex, announced this week a series of special events and activities taking place throughout August, including: 
  • Tu Ba'Av Celebration (August 11-13): A celebration of the Jewish holiday (of love) with restaurants and cafes offering specially designed menus and featuring musical concerts on Thursday and Saturday evenings.
  • Tel Aviv Fashion Weekend (August 18-20): An event showcasing the latest works by more than 50 up-and-coming Israeli designers, as well as various exhibitions presenting the works of top local fashion, design, photography and visual art students, as well as jazz and acoustic music performances.
  • Strangers (August 23-September 3): A photography project depicting the lives of 15 different immigrant families from around the world living in Israel.
  • Negev Exhibition (August 24): The Tachana will host a fair presenting agricultural goods, artwork and crafts, as well as ecological and renewable energy products from the Negev Desert in southern Israel.
  • From Jaffa to Tel Aviv (August 25-September 7): A historical exhibition highlighting architecture in Jaffa, one of Tel Aviv's most diverse neighborhoods, and providing visits to new construction projects and ongoing building renovations throughout the city.
  • Design Station (every Thursday in August): A fair featuring 25 specially commissioned designers selling industrial products, jewelry, bags, accessories flowers and even culinary treats.
"The Tachana is one of Tel Aviv's newest and most popular entertainment attractions," says Haim Gutin, Israel Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America, "and the free events will provide some additional excitement for travelers to Tel Aviv this month." 

The Tachana will also host special performances for children every Wednesday afternoon, and various acrobatic, dancing and street performances daily through August.
