January News From Denmark
Arken - Bigger and Better
On Jan. 26, the Arken Museum of Art in Ishøj, south of Copenhagen, will officially reopen after more than two years of construction that doubled the museum's exhibition space. Among the reopening exhibitions is a focus on Denmark's own 19th century Skagen painters (through June 1) and a showing of the works of 28-year-old Berlin artist Andreas Golder (through May 18). Permanent exhibitions housed in the new gallery space will include a dedicated Damien Hirst room, showcasing eight of the artist's key works.

Copenhagen Spa
The Avalon Spa at the 4-star Hotel Kong Arthur in Copenhagen opened its doors on Dec. 5, inviting spa-goers into more than 11,000 square feet of healing space, featuring five treatment rooms - including a dedicated couples' treatment room with Jacuzzi, shower and steam cabin for two. Other facilities include a yoga room, a fitness room with FitVibe vibrational training equipment, and an eight-person whirlpool. Forty of the hotel's 155 guestrooms are newly built and have direct, private elevator access to the new spa.
