TourCrafters’ Special Rome Package for Movie Fans

Libertyville, IL, June 9, 2011—Now movie buffs  can visit the studio where Roman Holiday and Three Coins in the Fountain were filmed  and can even see the costumes Liz Taylor and Richard Burton wore in Cleopatra.  For the first time ever, Rome’s famous Cinecitta Studio is open to the public and TourCrafters has developed a good-deal package called “Crazy About Cinema.”

The package includes round-trip air from New York, a private arrival transfer to the hotel, four nights at the centrally-located 4-star Hotel Oxford, a half-day city tour of Rome, a private transfer to and from the Cinecitta Studio, entrance tickets, four Italian buffet breakfasts, a 50 euro coupon for a meal in the romantic Sardinian  restaurant Il Drappo, hotel service and taxes.

The city tour takes in the major sites of the Eternal City and the visit to Cinecitta

includes sets like Nine and Gangs of New York, some funny auditions, a set made to look like the 8th century, as well as Audrey Hepburn’s dress from War and Peace and the robes worn by Mel Gibson in Passion of the Christ. There’s also plenty of time for sightseeing and shopping on your own, or hopping on an optional Vespa tour with a professional photographer to discover even more movie sites and take your own pictures.

The Crazy About Cinema package starts at only $875 between September 1 and 4, but costs $1,540 from June 15 to July 9, $1,285 from July 10 to August 31 and then less in September, October and November.  Hotel upgrades are, of course, possible, right up to the 5-star Hotel Bernini Bristol.  Land-only packages are also available, as are extensions to Florence, Venice, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast..

All prices quoted are per person, double occupancy, are subject to availability and do not include fuel surcharge of $420, airport taxes that start at $101 and city tax of three euros per night that is paid directly to the hotel. Reservations must be paid for within 72 hours of booking.  Air fare add-ons are $100 from Boston, $64 from Washington, D.C., $198 from Atlanta, $164 from Miami, $198 from Chicago, $164 from Houston and $298 from Los Angeles.
