Visitors Get Bigger Better Deals in Hershey Harrisburg Region With New Coupon Book & Dining Guide

Harrisburg, PA (May 10, 2011) – The Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau (HHRVB) today unveiled the region’s new Coupon Book & Dining Guide as part of a weeklong celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW).  The FREE annual coupon book has been expanded for 2011 with more savings and the addition of a regional dining guide.  The U.S. Travel Association’s annual National Tourism Week is celebrating “Why Travel Matters’ this year May 7-15.

The new Coupon Book & Dining Guide provides visitors with deals and discounts at participating businesses with the added convenience of a guide to some of the best dining spots in the Hershey Harrisburg Region.  Combining these two valuable resources into one publication gives visitors a convenient tool to match their tastes with their budgets.

“Adding a comprehensive dining guide section to our popular coupon book was a customer-driven decision,” said Mary Smith, President of HHRVB. “Dining and deals are consistently among the top requests we receive via our Web site and the 800 line.  Those two things are clearly important to travel planners.”

While the expanded glossy publication cost more to produce than the bureau’s previous VIP Coupon Book, tourism officials see this new format as an important investment in giving customers what they want.  Addressing the needs of today’s travel consumer is something that becomes even more critical as destinations compete more aggressively for travel business.

“If we can provide information our customers want while helping to drive business to our regional business Partners, it’s a win-win for the mission of this bureau,” said Smith. “As vacation planners become more savvy shoppers for travel values thanks to Smartphones and social media channels, it raises the bar for marketers. Travelers want to see the value.”

That demand for “perceived value” is why the bureau set out to create a new book this year with more businesses offering greater deals than any previous coupon book they produced.  HHRVB succeeded this year with over 40 area businesses within the Hershey Harrisburg Region offering approximately $700 in savings on dininglodgingentertainment, and shopping.
