The Clifton Inn Offers Families a Sophisticated Summer ‘Camp Clifton’ Experience

You’ve long outgrown your footlocker trunk, and drinking “Bug Juice” doesn’t quite excite your palate, but “going to camp” isn’t just for kids anymore… it’s even better with the whole family at the Charlottesville, VA Relais & Châteaux resort, The Clifton Inn. Elegant accommodations sprinkled with a hint of whimsy, and culinary delights created by chef Tucker Yoder, offer campers refined “bunks and hot plate dinners.” Activities focused on culinary, historical, or nature related pursuits can be customized by Clifton’s own camp counselor – who will help cultivate a sophisticated camp experience based on each family’s interests and ages.

There’s no startling reveille at Camp Clifton, but rather each morning begins at the camper’s leisure, kicked off with a hearty Virginia-style breakfast on the veranda before heading out into Charlottesville for a day of adventure. Families may elect to enjoy every day together, or perhaps parents might enjoy a winery tour while the children take part in day camps offered at historic Monticello or Montpelier.

At the end of the day, gather ‘round the nightly campfire with friends both old and new, to savor stories, s’mores, and say goodnight.
