Second Annual Green Auction: ‘Bid to Save the Earth’ Benefits

 the Central Park Conservancy and other Leading Environmental Charities

New York, NY (March 17, 2011) – Beginning today, travel enthusiasts have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience luxury vacation and adventure packages – all while supporting the world’s most celebrated public green space, Central Park.

 A six-night adventure in Chilean Patagonia with SNP Patagonia Sur and a seven-day hiking excursion in the Italian Riviera with REI are among the luxury packages offered at the second annual Bid to Save the Earth, the environmentally friendly green auction and fundraising initiative presented by Christie’s International auction house and Runway to Green, in association with Vogue magazine.

Bidding opens online on March 17 and runs through April 7, available through the project’s online auction partner, charitybuzz at charitybuzz.com/BidtoSavetheEarth.

The auction gives bidders the opportunity to enjoy exclusive travel and luxury experiences while supporting four leading environmental charities: the Central Park Conservancy, Conservation International, Natural Resources Defense Council, and Oceana. Last year, the event raised nearly $2.4 million to benefit the non-profit green organizations.

The initiative also includes a celeb-studded event and live auction of exclusive packages on March 29, held at Christie’s New York and hosted by Seth Meyers of Saturday Night Live. Co-Chairmen of the event include Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault; Susan and David Rockefeller; and Anna and Graydon Carter. The evening also features a live runway show of one-of-a-kind designs by top international designers and presented by Runway to Green.
