ISRAEL CELEBRATES A DECADE OF CLASSICAL MUSIC 
WITH THE RED SEA CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

New York - December 22, 2010: Classical music lovers from around the world will travel to Israel for the 10th annual Red Sea Classical Music Festival in the southern resort city of Eilat, January 6-8. 

redseaclassicalmusicThe festival will showcase world-renowned Maestro Valery Gergiev conducting more than 290 musicians and soloists from the Mariinsky Choir, the Children's Choir and orchestra of the Mariinsky Opera Company (St. Petersburg), and feature presentations of Prokofiev's War and Peace, Verdi's Requiem and Gustav Mahler'sSymphony #2. Additional performances include Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, and musical pieces by Rachmaninoff, Borodon and Tchaikovsky. 

"The Red Sea Classical Music Festival is one of the most highly anticipated music festivals taking place in Israel every year," says Haim Gutin, Israel Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America. "The festival will help kick off the exciting lineup of classical music and opera festivals in 2011 leading up to the Masada Opera weekend in June."

The festival will also include several unique chamber music concerts, including a 12-person cello performance, a piano and cello concert featuring works by Beethoven and three new compositions from emerging Israeli composers.
