Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Conference and Visitors Bureau Invites Visitors to Experience Annapolis Like a Local

ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND—In an ongoing effort to enhance brand awareness for the destination and stimulate the local economy, the Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Conference and Visitors Bureau (AAACCVB) will be launching a winter marketing campaign on November 15 that is designed to drive visitors to its www.VisitAnnapolis.org website and the destination by encouraging visitors to personally identify with some of the locals who live here.

Local residents who epitomize nine key demographic segments serve as the cornerstone of the Who’s Your Annapolitan? campaign. Through January 1, the AAACCVB website will profile the locals and list answers to questions about their favorite activities, restaurants, shops, attractions, and holiday events within the destination.

AAACCVB President and CEO Connie Del Signore says the campaign is designed to engage the new consumer by making the experience of researching and visiting Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay more personal. “Today’s savvy travelers use technology and social media to connect with others and gather information from trusted sources. Our campaign introduces them to the diverse, whimsical, and appealing personalities who live here. If visitors get to know and identify with our locals, our residents will be able to lead them to an exclusive experience of the destination.”

The demographic segments featured in the campaign include: Retired Couple, Chip and Mary Seymour; Fabulous Single Gal, Kate Noble; Terrific Single Guy, Jed Prossner; Dating Couple, Erin Appel and Travis Martz; Married Couple with Young Kids, Paul and Lauren Miguez; Empty Nesters, Doug and Karen Smith; Powerful Politician, Senator John C. Astle;Mover and Shaker, Sheila Finlayson; and Ultimate Fashionista, Michele Deckman.

The AAACCVB is promoting the campaign through banner ads on consumer travel sites targeted at the Baltimore, DC, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and New York City markets. A grand prize will be awarded to a random winner on Friday, January 7, 2011. To be eligible for the drawing, individuals need simply choose the Annapolitan they most closely identify with. The prize includes an overnight stay for two at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel, admission for four to Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament, and a $100 gift certificate to Mike’s Restaurant and Crab House.

Who’s Your Annapolitan? is the 11th in a series of integrated seasonal promotions. On January 3, 2011, the AAACCVB will launch a similar campaign that focuses on food and romance.

The AAACCVB is a nonprofit, membership-based, destination marketing organization that generates revenues for the local economy by promoting Annapolis and Anne Arundel County to leisure and business travelers across the country and around the world.
