The name of Nights in the Gardens is a tribute to the talented Andalusian composer Manuel de Falla

Ninety five years ago, Cadiz-born composer Manuel de Falla wrote one of his most famous pieces, "Noches en los Jardines de España" (Nights in the gardens of Spain), a three movement composition that draws an evocative journey to the sensations of spending a night in some of the most famous gardens of Spain.

The work depicts three gardens:

  * En el Generalife (In the Generalife): The first gardens are in the Generalife, the jasmine-scented gardens surrounding the summer palace of the king’s harem at the Alhambra.

  * Danza lejana (Distant Dance): The second garden is an unidentified, distant one in which there is an exotic dance.

  * En los jardines de la Sierra de Córdoba (In the Gardens of the Sierra de Córdoba): The third gardens are in the Sierra de Cordoba in Spain and feature live gypsy dancing as well as singing for the feast of Corpus Christi.

Falla is defined in "Nights in the Gardens of Spain" as "symphonic impressions." The piano part is elaborate, brilliant and eloquent... but rarely dominant. The orchestral writing is lush. It is Falla’s most "impressionistic" score.

Walking around Seville, Andalusia, is one of the most wonderful experiences one can have in southern Spain. Here you will find a magical city, more beautiful and restored than ever.

Built on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Seville is heir to a rich Arab legacy, and to the condition of being a prosperous trading port with the Americas.

Every street and square that makes up the historic quarter of the Andalusian capital bursts with joy and bustle. This area has an interesting collection of historic buildings, many of which have been declared World Heritage Sites. It also contains colorful districts with great popular flavor, such as Triana and La Macarena.
