Posada La Poza, an eclectic Baja Inn

06-14-2010

For A Great Rate at Posada La PozaContact the Eclectic Baja Inn’s Owners

Tired of searching the internet for the best possible hotel rates?  Want to get away to somewhere in Baja that’s a world away from Cabo San Lucas in a spectacular natural setting on the Tropic of Cancer – and not wonder if you got the best deal while enjoying a lush oasis teeming with exotic birds, upscale accommodations, gourmet dining and an exceptional wine cellar?

Then Posada la Poza is the escape for you this summer.  And to get the best rates call the owners themselves – Juerg and Libusche Wiesendanger, the Swiss couple who built and operate Posada la Poza (“Inn at the Spring”).  On their website, the couple invite visitors to do just that:  “Looking for a special deal? We are sure that you will get one when you call the owners directly!”  http://www.lapoza.com/en/1.hotel/6.promotions

The rack rates for summer (through November 15) start at $140 including a full cooked-to-order breakfast for two in El Gusto! restaurant and early riser tea or coffee. But for the best rates contact Juerg or Libusche at lapoza@prodigy.net.mx, or (direct-dial from the U.S.) 011-52-612-145-0400. www.lapoza.com

Todos Santos is easily accessible from both Cabo San Lucas/San Jose del Cabo (airport code: SJD) and from La Paz, Baja’s capital (airport code: LTO).

Located seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but actually only a few minutes from Todos Santos, Posada La Poza is an the intimate inn with just eight rooms and suites, set on a spring-fed lagoon and bird sanctuary by the Pacific Ocean. In this incredible avian habitat and paradise for birdwatchers, guests may observe up to 70 species of birds at any given time, and during the migrating seasons pods of gray whales pass along the seemingly endless stretch of uninhabited beaches here. The large roof-top deck is ideal for viewing wildlife – binoculars provided – while sipping the inn’s signature cocktail, the incredibly refreshing Royal Margarita, blending tequila, lime juice and Cointreau with champagne floated on top.

Other activities and facilities include: gourmet El Gusto! restaurant, which boasts one of the largest lists of Baja wines; a salt-water swimming pool with a deck and lounge chairs; extensive flower and cactus gardens;  massages; trails for hiking, jogging and walking;  fishing rods and tackle; the temazcalMexican sweat lodge – and rowboats and canoes to really enjoy the lagoon and experience up-close-and-personal bird watching.

Posada la Poza doubles as an art gallery: the inn is filled with works by Libusche, an accomplished artist whose pieces are in a number of museums and private collections.

Todos Santos is an historic missionary settlement an hour north of Cabo San Lucas which has become a dynamic international artists community and boasts many art galleries, restaurants and boutiques.
