Weekend Offers Rare Opportunity for Guests to Mingle with Adirondack Artisans

06-12-2010

First Annual Rustic Artisan Gathering at Lake Placid Lodge

Lake Placid Lodge has long boasted one of the world’s premier collections of trueAdirondack furnishings -- and is also a great source for those wanting to take a bit of the look home with them. Lucky for those guests and collectors, as well as for the local craftsmen and artisans who produce the rustic art, accessories and furniture that distinguishes its woodsy interiors, the Lodge has always been a most welcoming and supportive marketplace. And now, to celebrate this longstanding relationship with the region’s master craftsmen, the Lake Placid Lodge is celebrating its very first Rustic Artisan’s Gathering in collaboration with The Adirondack Museum. During the week of June 25-29, 2010, guests will have the rare chance to mingle with renowned artisans including Barney Bellinger, Jay Dawson, David Garrett, George Jacques, Michael Ringer, Rhea Costello, Larry and Joann Post, Barry Gregson, Wayne Ignatuk, Jay Haws, Bill Coffey, Russ Gleaves, Steve Chisholm, Tom Yacovella – and many of the other thirty-five craftsmen involved in the remarkable rebuilding of the Main Lodge structure.

The artisans will be showcasing examples of their best work [that is, what’s not already in the Lodge collection!] and participate in discussions lead by curators of The Adirondack Museum; curators will also lead a special tour of the Museum, slightly over

 an hour away.

For overnight guests, the week includes more opportunities to get to know the artisans over cocktails and dinner in Artisan’s Restaurant, the Lodge’s farm-to-table establishment where ‘artisan’ refers to everything from the local cheeses served to the tables and chairs on which the gourmet meals are enjoyed. Another night will feature a festive evening barbeque on the dock over
Lake Placid. Campfires and fireside entertainment will make an eventful week at the Lodge even more lively.
