GOLF ODYSSEY NAMES THE WORLD'S BEST GOLF VACATION DESTINATIONS FOR 2007 / 2008

12-06-2007

SHORT HILLS, N.J. (December 5, 2007) — In its just-released December 2007 issue, Golf Odyssey: The Insider’s Guide to Sophisticated Golf Travel has published its highly anticipated annual list of “Platinum Places,” 72 of the world’s best golf courses, resorts, and vacation destinations to suit many different types of travelers.

The editors of Golf Odyssey crisscrossed the globe several times to generate their collection of “Platinum Places 2007 / 2008,” but, unlike other lists, Golf Odyssey’s is smartly divided into 18 categories, making it more relevant and useful to women, families, escapists, value-seekers, skiers, fishing buffs, and many others with specific preferences and interests. Categories include: The Best Resorts for Same-Day Golf and Skiing; The Best Golf Courses You May Have All to Yourself; The Best Golf Destinations Where You’ve Not Yet Been; and even, The Best Golf Resorts for Non-Golf Activities in consideration of non-golfers in a traveling party or those seeking off-course adventures.

Also unique to Golf Odyssey’s list of “Platinum Places,” is that it was generated from anonymous and unbiased site inspections. Golf Odyssey is the world’s only golf travel publication that makes unannounced visits and does not accept advertising, discounts or “freebies” from the properties it reviews.

Golf Odyssey’s list of Platinum Places is a perfect example of how we provide expert advice, not just information,” said David Baum, publisher and editor-in-chief of the Golf Odyssey newsletter, now in its 16th year. “What others call ‘the best’ golf courses and resorts are rarely the best for everyone. Our approach takes this into account and helps people spend their time and money wisely.”

In addition to the “Platinum Places” list, Golf Odyssey's December 2007 issue includes the publication’s now legendary Best and Worst Awards. Always provocative, categories based on this year’s travels include: The Most Overrated Course in Mexico; The Worst Resort Dining; The Best Trend in Myrtle Beach; Accommodations of the Year; The Best Golf at the Ends of the Earth; and The Best 36-hole Facility in Scottsdale.
