The Cape Henlopen Lighthouse (late 1760s-1926) will be spotlighted in the January 16th program at Lewes' Zwaanendael Museum.

“End Slavery! Stop the War!” In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln initiated a strategy to end both slavery and the Civil War. Delaware played a key role in debating the issue which will be dramatized as historical re-enactors take on the personas of two members of the Delaware General Assembly—one a Lincoln Republican and the other a “Copperhead” Democrat—as they argue Lincoln’s proposed legislation in the Old State House, scene of the state’s original deliberations.The Old State House, 25 The Green, Dover, DE 19901. “Ladies First.” Women’s History Month program featuring musical selections from the female pioneers of recorded sound played on authentic Victrola machines. Spotlighted performers will include Victor recording artist Rosa Ponselle, Louisa Tetrazzini, and Marian Anderson. The event will also feature a ceremony honoring the recent donation of Nipper-related items to the museum’s collections. Johnson Victrola Museum, 375 S.
