New Online Guide to “The Holidays … Only in San Francisco"

The holiday season in San Francisco is like a huge box of sparkling ornaments.  Some are elegant classics, like the San Francisco Ballet’s “Nutcracker” and the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Chanticleer.  Some are kitschy and clever like the dancing Christmas trees of “Beach Blanket Babylon” and the hilarious “Kung Pao Kosher Comedy.” Some are as familiar as the smell of gingerbread, like the holiday lights that seem to cover every palm, pine and pier.  Others seem exotic and fascinatingly foreign, like the Parol Lantern Festival and Parade and the Japanese Mochi Pounding Party.

More than 150 holiday events taking place through January 2008 are grouped and searchable by category, making festive affairs quick and simple to find: performances, music, festivals, free, sports, museums and dance.

Holiday hotel packages are available on the site and include amenities such as cruises on San Francisco Bay, rides on the famous cable cars, attraction tickets, dining certificates, valet parking, breakfast and other “stocking stuffers.”  With the easy to use reservation system, visitors can bundle accommodations, tours, attractions and activities to create their own customized packages.

In addition to finding details on when to go, what to do and where to stay, visitors can enter a drawing to win a San Francisco shopping spree with a $1,000 Visa Gift card by signing up for the SFCVB’s free monthly newsletter.
