 GUATEMALA MAYAN EXPERIENCE

Book this new Gutsy destination by December 18 and Save!

KIRKLAND, WA (September 9, 2009) Guatemala is one of the most idyllic destinations in the world — from the Spanish colonial architecture, manicured parks, stylish hotels, and superb cuisine of Antigua to the crystal blue waters and views of volcano peaks at Lake Atitlan to the Mayan Ruins of Iximche.  Gutsy Women Travel’s Guatemala Mayan Experience explores all this and more on its 7-Day trip which begins in Antigua, Guatemala on February 14, 2010 and October 24, 2010.

Highlights of the tour include visits with locals who are promoting environmentally responsible agriculture and sustainable living, and raising women’s social status in Guatemala. Ladies will visit a small independent coffee farm where they’ll have an opportunity to learn and perform all aspects of coffee processing and local co-ops where women work together to produce and sell their traditional weavings, textiles and other products. The itinerary also includes tours of Santiago and the Mayan archaeology site of Iximche; a cooking lesson on traditional Guatemalan dishes; a boat tour across Lake Atitlan and shopping at the famous Chichicastenango Market.

According to April Merenda, Gutsy Women Travel’s President, “We are thrilled to add Guatemala to our program for 2010.  Our Latin America trips have become very popular and many of our guests who traveled with us to Peru, Chile, Argentina and Costa Rica, told us they wanted to explore more of this region of the world.  We’ve created an itinerary that of course visits Guatemala’s top sites, but we’ve also included our signature “Gutsy” activities such as working on a fair trade coffee plantation, visits to women-operated co-ops and a Guatemalan cooking class.”
