USA Walks Also Offered

Newport, RI  (August 7, 2009) – The Wayfarers’ Walks in Italy, Scotland, France, Croatia, Ireland, and England are on sale this fall thanks to the strengthening of the US dollar. Scheduled in September and October, The Walks include activities, meals, and accommodations. European Walks are priced starting at $3295 per person (inclusive of $400 currency bonus, if paid in full at time of booking*). A reduction of $100 is also offered on single supplements for the European Walks. USA Walks are priced starting at $2595 per person.

European Walks from The Wayfarers at Reduced Prices – Fall 2009:

Venice and The Veneto are highlighted over seven days, September 13-19, as walkers explore the contrast between the opulence of the Venetian empire and the trenches of the First World War while crossing alpine meadows and mountain villages. Indulge in cheese at the mountain resort of Asiago and fine wine at the Nardini distillery. ($3595*)

The Wayfarers surveys Scotland in Loch Lomond & The Western Isles, scheduled September 13-19. On this seven-day adventure, Walkers will encounter magnificent lakes, heathered moors, and remote islands and will visit the hauntingly beautiful Gylen Castle and the isles of Mull and Kerrara. ($3495*)

Discover the brilliant blue skies and dazzling flower fields that served as inspiration during the Impressionist movement in Cézanne’s Provence, scheduled September 13-19 and October 4-11. In Croatia, The Wayfarers explores the Dalmatian Coast over eight days, scheduled September 19-26. Ancient monasteries, sleepy harbor villages, and medieval towns reveal a bygone Mediterranean. Highlights include a private boat trip to a secluded restaurant overlooking the sea for a lunch of fish caught that morning. The Ring of Kerry, a seven-day Walk scheduled September 27-October 3, begins in the town of Killarney, Ireland and includes Franciscan abbeys, visits to Druidic stone circles, the Torc waterfalls, and mysterious Celtic writings on an ancient Ogham stone. ($3495*)

The Historic Dordogne comes to life during a seven-day Walk, scheduled September 27-October 3. In conjunction with the Walk, hikers take a boat along the Dordogne River and visit Grottes de Font-de-Gaume to see perfectly preserved prehistoric cave paintings and Les Milandes, the former home of Josephine Baker. Sicily, Mt. Etna, & Aeolian Islands, scheduled October 10-17,includes eight days of walking with dramatic seaside vistas. Walkers will hike Mount Etna, ferry to the Aeolian Islands, and relax in hot sulphur mud pools. ($3995)

The Wayfarers venture through the sleepy villages in The Cotswolds & Oxford over six days, scheduled October 11-16, to discover the world-class gardens of Hidcote Manor, the beautiful grounds of Batsford House, the estate of the Duke of Marlborough, and the ancient university town of Oxford. US Walks - Fall 2009:

Walk in Camden on The Coast of Maine, scheduled September 20-25, to explore unspoiled Acadia National Park and car-free Monhegan Island, while sampling Maine’s famous seafood and viewing dramatic cliffs. ($2695)
