November News From Denmark
Copenhagen is Tops. Again!
For the fourth straight year, Copenhagen ran off with the title of "Europe's Leading Cruise Destination" at the annual World Travel Awards. More than 170,000 votes were cast in the balloting. Selected by members of the global travel industry, notably travel agents and tour operators, the awards are considered to be the travel industry "Oscars." By the end of 2007, thanks to the growth in Christmas cruises to Denmark and Scandinavia, the port of Copenhagen will receive 420,000 cruise passengers from a total of 289 ships. The last ship of the year docks in December.

Faroe Islands and Bornholm Receive Accolades
In its "Islands: Destination Scorecard" (November/December 2007) National Geographic Traveler magazine ranked the world's top islands based on their environmental and cultural integrity and their commitment to sustaining both for the future. Topping the list of 111 selected islands were the Faroe Islands, a Danish territory of 18 islands in the north Atlantic, that the magazine noted for their "superb glaciated landscape with improbably steep slopes" and a cultural heritage that is "certainly cherished." Also on the list was Bornholm, the Danish island located east of Sweden where the magazine said, "The beauty of the architecture together with local cultural landscape make the island very attractive and fascinating."
