Playa del Carmen, Mexico (July 27, 2009)—The Rosewood Mayakobá (www.rosewoodmayakoba.com) in Mexico’s Riviera Maya was ranked one of the best hotels worldwide and the top resort in Mexico in Travel+Leisure magazine’s recently-published World’s Best 2009 Awards.

The magazine’s 14th annual readers’ poll placed the Rosewood Mayakobá 18th internationally and first in the Resorts in Mexico category.

Three Riviera Maya properties made Travel+Leisure’s Top 15 Resorts in Mexico list in addition to the Rosewood Mayakobá: the Maroma Resort & Spa (11th, www.maromahotel.com) and the Royal Hideaway Playacar (15th, www.royalhideaway.com).

Riviera Maya properties to make Travel+Leisure’s T&L 500: World’s Best Hotels include the Fairmont Mayakobá (www.fairmont.com/mayakoba/) and The Tides Riviera Maya (www.tidesrivieramaya.com) in addition to the hotels mentioned above.

“Mexico’s Riviera Maya has long been one of the world’s top luxury vacation destinations, as prestigious recognitions such as the Travel+Leisure World’s Best 2009 Awards clearly demonstrate,” said Javier Aranda, director of the Riviera Maya Destination Marketing Office.
