GIVE THE GIFT OF THE GREENBRIER THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

11-17-2007

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV, November 16, 2007 – Celebrating the holidays at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs has been a long-standing tradition for multiple generations.  Those looking to spend the holidays away from home this December are welcome at The Greenbrier, where festive décor and a multitude of offerings are sure to spread cheer.  In addition, this year The Greenbrier will offer unique family dining events, concerts, dances and golf for families looking for activities as well as couples seeking a romantic retreat.  Also offered this year is the Christmas Comes Early package, which puts good cheer, good times, and a $100 gift certificate in your stocking, applicable towards activities, dining or retail.  Rates for the package start at $329 per night and it is available November 1 – December 20.

From December 22-30, The Greenbrier offers guests a traditional Christmas package.  Those visiting the resort during this time will be welcomed into the Upper Lobby with warming fireplaces and holiday decorations.  Garlands, wreaths, poinsettias and lavish Christmas trees deck the halls of the public spaces throughout the resort.  In the Colonial Lounge, an enormous tree made of stacked poinsettias makes a statement against the room’s black and white marble floor, while the Indoor Pool features a tree with a festive tropical theme. One of the more striking rooms is the Cameo Ballroom, with four trees elegantly dressed in rich gold and cream tones and yards of pine garland which radiates from the nine-foot crystal chandelier at the center of the room.

Despite the cooler weather, The Greenbrier continues to offer numerous outdoor activities for guests of all ages to enjoy.  On temperate days throughout the holiday season, guests can enjoy golfing without greens fees; on days when the property’s 6,500 acres are covered in snow, sleigh rides are available.  During the Christmas package, couples can enjoy dance classes that are offered daily in the Cameo Ballroom, and can then show off their moves during the Dinner Dances in the Chesapeake Room.*

Those looking to finish holiday shopping can do so at the 33 shops located in and around the property, which include a children’s shop, a furniture store, a flower shop, a chocolatier, boutiques and a jewelry store, among others.  The resort also offers complimentary gift wrapping and fully-decorated trees can be placed, with advance request, in many of the resort’s luxurious accommodations.

The scents of the season can be found in The Greenbrier’s 40,000 square-foot Spa.  From November 15 to January 1, special holiday treatments such as the Cranberry Body Odyssey and Gingerbread and Cranberry Fig manicure and pedicure are available to guests.  The Royal Riches service incorporates frankincense and myrrh to alleviate stress and is also available during the holiday season.  Year-round favorites including The Greenbrier Treatment complete with a soak in the sulphur spring waters, a steam or sauna, a Swiss shower and Scotch spray, and a massage, is also available.

Children aren’t forgotten at The Greenbrier, especially during the holidays.  Hot chocolate and cookies are served nightly in the Upper Lobby and story telling, art classes, music and dance events are offered for all ages.  The days surrounding Christmas and New Year’s are designed especially to keep guests in a festive spirit, and family-oriented events and a concert featuring five time Grammy-winning Christian music star Sandi Patty are just a few of the activities that are available to everyone.  On Christmas Eve, guests can watch as The Greenbrier’s Culinary Brigade creates a life-size ice carving of Santa’s sleigh and reindeer.  During the Jingle Bell Parade on Christmas Eve, children can escort Santa to his sleigh and pose for pictures with him. That evening, the festivities continue with the ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas Gingerbread Ball, which features a delectable buffet including one just for children, performances by puppeteers, caricaturists, a ballet performance and a visit from Santa Claus.*  The Greenbrier also provides options for guests ages six-12 on New Year’s Eve with the Children’s “Big Night” Dinner Party.*

Adults also have special entertainment options for New Year’s Eve.  Wine Tasting Seminars are offered and New Year’s Eve galas* featuring live music and dancing are an ideal way to ring in 2008.  The Greenbrier’s New Year’s Day Jazz and Champagne Brunch Buffet and the Rock & Roll Dinner Buffet and Show keep the festivities going on throughout the New Year’s holiday.*
