Special Family Package Celebrates Grand Opening of the

 Southern California Resort

 

Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.- July 2009- Families who are California dreamin' can catch a wave to the new Terranea Resort, which opened on June 12. Embracing the California lifestyle made popular by the Beach Boys, the 102 acre oceanfront Resort offers families surf, sun and fun through a multitude of programs and amenities inspired by the region's rugged, natural beauty and active lifestyle. Whether competing in a friendly game of bocce ball, exploring tide pools, kayaking along the beach cove, zooming down the resort pool's waterslide or stargazing while relaxing by the outdoor firepits, Terranea promises "fun, fun, fun" for families vacationing at the Resort. Tide Pool Adventures Camp For Kids
Tide Pool Adventures provides children ages 4 through 12 years old with an engaging and playful environment. Weekly themed day and evening camps include: Planet Terranea where kids discover Terranea's unique ecology through hands-on experiences; Pirates of the Peninsula that allows adventurous mates to design their own pirate cove; My Art Studio which encourages kids to create a variety of masterpieces; Shutterbug Shootout where kids capture local wildlife in action through a photo scavenger hunt; and Let's Go to the Movies that encourages campers to be the stars in their own rock band or favorite movie scenes. Tide Pool Adventures is offered daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $15 per hour for the first child and $10 per hour for siblings. Children may stay for up to four hours per day.
 
Teen Scene
For guests ages 13 through 17, Terranea's nightlife scene gives teenage guests a chance to meet new friends during glow-in-the-dark recreational activities and movie showings. During the daylight hours, activities available to teens include surfing, kayaking, biking, horseback riding, hiking and volleyball.
 
Water Thrills
The Resort Pool is a hub for families during their vacation. Kids will enjoy slipping and sliding down the 140 foot water slide, and splishin' and a splashin' in the Splash Zone. The pool area also features a large pool for swimming, two Jacuzzis, a fire pit and private cabanas with 22" flat screen TVs, IPod docking stations and poolside dining service.
 
Active, Outdoor Fun
Organized activities give all members of the family an opportunity to partake in outdoor fun including:

  • Bocce Ball: The resort's competition court allows guests to enjoy tournament-style fun. After-dark, the play continues with glow-in-the-dark bocce balls.
  • Croquet Challenge: Set up tournament style, guests can test their skills against each other or activity leaders.
  • Nature Walk: Daily guided nature walks along the scenic Discovery Trail highlight the coastline and introduce guests to the indigenous plants and wildlife.
  • Family Fun Night:  From Beach Blanket Bingo to hermit crab races and bubble blowing contests, families bond while participating in fun activities on the poolside lawn.
  • Ocean Adventure: Terranea offers families a wide variety of ocean adventures including kayaking, snorkeling, and surf camps by Quicksilver.
  • Horseback and Bike Tours: Scenic horse and bike trails allow guests explore the beauty of Terranea's natural setting. Guides and rentals are available, and all skill levels are welcome.

Dining For All
Whether eating at Catalina Kitchen, poolside at Terranea Grill or in-room, kids will enjoy Terranea's menus featuring a selection of their favorites using healthy and nutritious ingredients. Terranea's lunch and dinner dining options also include mar'sel, the Resort's signature restaurant, Nelson's overlooking the Pacific Ocean, sea beans coffee boutique, the Spa Café, Cielo Point (adult pool) and Discovery Trail Refreshments adjacent to Cielo Point.
 
Family Package
In honor of the Resort's grand opening on June 12, 2009, Terranea is offering a family package that includes 50 percent off a second room, complimentary use of a private cabana at the Resort Pool, complimentary admission for one child to Tide Pool Adventures kids camp with purchase of a spa treatment and complimentary kids breakfast with purchase of an adult entrée. The Terranea Resort Family Package starts at $355 per night for the first room and $177.50 for the second room and requires the booking of two reservations for the same arrival date and same number of nights. The Tide Pool Adventure experience is limited to one entry per parent for the first spa treatment only.
