THE RESORT AT PAWS UP ANNOUNCES FIRST CARBON NEUTRAL VACATIONS IN THE US

07-13-2009

Montana's Premier Luxury Ranch Resort Partners with ClearSky Climate Solutions and Launches an iPreserve Green Program this Summer

Greenough, Montana – Greenough Montana is getting a little greener this summer as The Resort at Paws Up announces its partnership with ClearSky Climate Solutions and offers guests carbon neutral vacations without trimming the comfort. Through the resort's new iPreserve program, Paws Up has made several major commitments to better the environment – further establishing themselves as true stewards of sustainability. Already a conservator of land, Paws Up can now add becoming the country's first carbon neutral resort to its list of amenities.

Guests traveling to Paws Up this summer can enjoy horseback rides, spa treatments, and catch and release fly-fishing while simultaneously helping to balance the environmental impact of their vacation. Paws Up and ClearSky Climate Solutions performed a greenhouse gas emissions audit of all resort activities and calculated the 'Carbon Pawprint' for each guest's vacation. The resort has purchased certified ClearSky carbon offsets to mitigate the carbon emissions from their guest's stays.  Paws Up and ClearSky also offer the ability for guests to offset their travel to/from Missoula.

"We are passionate about providing families and guests with a way to do their part to help the environment.  It's an excellent way for them to spend time together on vacation while doing something educational, meaningful, and of course, incredibly enjoyable," said Jim Nielsen, general manager of The Resort at Paws Up.

Paws Up has implemented additional activities on its path toward achieving climate neutrality by announcing the launch of their iPreserve green program. Activities under this program include: measuring energy waste with an annual assessment of the resort's carbon footprint; mitigating resort activities by investing in forestry and rangeland projects; the purchase of 18 Miles Electric cars for guests and a school bus to shuttle staff to and from work; and the launch of "Greenough farms," an on-site organic garden and chicken coop to provide "farm-to-table" sustainable dining.
