Are you going to San Francisco?

07-13-2009

Whether summer vacation plans include the increasingly popular “breakcation” or a coast-to-coast journey, the new summer-fall edition of the San Francisco Visitors Planning Guide is a “must-read.”

Published by the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau, the 160-page guide has more than 1,400 succinct listings on accommodations, sightseeing, attractions, shopping, restaurants and transportation to make the most of time spent in “Everybody’s Favorite City” and nearby regions.

A calendar of events through the end of December 2009; foldout maps of the city and the Greater Bay Area; tips on public transit and free things to do; interviews with Marcia Gagliardi, “the tablehopper,” and Blakely Bass, founder and curator of RAG (Residents Apparel Gallery) co-op, are part of the cover-to-cover coverage of the Bay Area. The new issue also has advice on how to get to and from San Francisco International Airport; what to see in Golden Gate Park, the site of the new California Academy of Sciences and the “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs” exhibit at the de Young museum through March 28, 2010. A special section on the wine country offers suggestions for wine tasting; wine and food pairings; brief overviews of Northern California’s major wine regions, and a calendar of wine country events.
