Grand Canyon National Park Most Searched on the Web

 

Since the Secretary of the Interior announced free admission during select weekends this summer (June 20-21, July 18-19, August 15-16), our nation’s national parks have quickly become one of the top summer vacation destinations. In addition, the National Park Service is especially popular during this time, when individuals are seeking frugal vacation alternatives.

 

Yahoo! has seen an increase in searches for national parks over the past 30 days, putting Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona at the top of everyone’s list, with searches increasing over 143% (compared to 2007), followed by Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming where searches are up 11% compared to last year and Yosemite National Park in California where searches are up 31% this month.  A complete list can be found below.

·         Camping is the recession vacation:

o    Searches on Yahoo! for KOA Camping are up 3090% in the past month

o    Searches for “camping supplies” are up 556% in the past month; and searches for “camping gear’ are up 27%

·         Yellowstone Lodging searches are up 146% in the past month

·         Searches for “camping”, “rv sales” and “rv accessories’ are all up in the past month
