Once a month the Kansas Travel & Tourism Division distributes this brief newsletter, providing tourism updates throughout the state of Kansas.  Highlights include a title, brief descriptor and a link for more details.   Not all highlights will be of interest to everyone.  They are simply intended to entice new story ideas in the areas of agritourism, outdoor, culinary, cultural, history, heritage and more.

Summertime is “the time” to travel with family and friends and experience great food, great music, great events and great fun.  Kansas offers all of this and more all summer long.  Here are just a few examples of what visitors can enjoy during their travels to Kansas this summer.

Like Country Music?  Don’t Miss the Winfield Country Round-Up:  From June 18 – June 20, enjoy all that country has to offer at the Winfield Country Round-Up.  A small sampling of top name entertainers includes Charlie Daniels, Ronnie Milsap, the Outlaw Junkies, Cowboy Crush and Matt Engels.  Great campsites are available.  For more information, visit www.winfieldcountryroundup.com.

Enjoy Fabulous Wines at Salute! in Lawrence, KS:  Salute!, July 9-11, is a three-day Festival of Wine and Food benefit for wine lovers of all levels and tastes.  Each year, more than 600 people travel from near and far to attend this celebrated event.  Activities include the Mass Street Mosey, where visitors stroll through designated downtown Lawrence businesses sipping wine and sampling delicious food.  There is a Winemaker Dinner on Friday evening and The Grand Tasting on Saturday, where more than 250 wines and local gourmet foods are featured.  For more information and tickets, visit www.visitlawrence.com.

Wah-Shun-Gah Days in Council Grove, KS:  This three-day family festival, July 19 -21, honors the last full-blooded Kaw Chief of the Kaw Nation and celebrates the long relationship of the Kaw Nation Native Americans with the white settlers along this historic Santa!
