FRAZEYSBURG, Ohio, May 2009 - The Longaberger Homestead, best known as a destination for handcrafted baskets, shops and restaurants, has announced the availability of new, two-night “Made in America” vacation packages.

 

Given the growing interest in handmade American crafts and today’s preference for close-to-home vacation getaways, the inclusive Longaberger travel packages offer outstanding value for visitors who enjoy immersion in a craft-making adventure, coupled with touring historic towns in America’s heartland.

 

The “Made in America” packages include accommodations at Longaberger’s signature hotel, The Place Off the Square, in Newark, Ohio, and a visit to The Works, a Smithsonian-affiliated interactive museum complex, also in Newark. At the Longaberger Homestead in Frazeysburg, guests are treated to a VIP tour to view basket-making artisans at work, the opportunity to make his or her own basket, and specially prepared “Made in America” lunches served in a hand-crafted red/white/blue basket as a memorable keepsake.

 

Effective through December 22, 2009, the Longaberger “Made in America” package price is $250, and includes:

 

·         Two Nights Accommodations at The Place Off the Square, a Longaberger hotel located in Newark, Ohio. The hotel represents a true slice of Americana, and offers an indoor pool and easy access to area attractions and downtown dining. The hotel is owned by The Longaberger Company, whose handcrafted baskets have made this area of east-central Ohio famous. Enjoy the decorative Longaberger baskets found throughout this charming hotel.

 

·         Breakfasts for Two at The Place Off the Square.

 

·         Two individual passes (or one Family Pass) to The Works museum in Newark, Ohio. A museum where visitors of all ages can explore the connections between art, crafts, technology and history.  The Works is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Museum and a member of the Association of Science-Technology Centers.

 

·         Visit to the Longaberger Homestead in Frazeysburg, Ohio. Located about 20 minutes from The Place Off the Square, Longaberger Homestead is a shopping, dining and events destination adjacent to the company’s basketmaking facility. The Homestead Shop features collectibles, clothing, kitchen and tabletop accessories, garden items and gourmet foods.

 

·         “Made in America” Lunch for Two (2) served in an exclusive red/white/blue handmade basket (yours to keep).
