WEEKEND-LONG CELEBRATION

 

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va, May 4, 2009 – The renowned Greenbrier resort in West Virginia will celebrate the nation’s birthday with a weekend of patriotic activities, including the Annual Grand Parade, Summer Lawn Party and Fourth of July Concert with live music, fireworks and more.  Known as America’s Resort, the National Historic Landmark will offer an authentic and exciting experience for guests of all ages from July 3 to 5, 2009.

The festivities begin on Friday afternoon with a sand sculpting workshop led by Chuck Feld, one of only 60 Master Sand Sculptors in the world.  Afternoon tea, followed by a special double movie feature at The Greenbrier Theatre, will also welcome guests on Friday evening.

On Saturday, July 4, the celebration will kick off at 10 a.m. with another sand sculpting workshop and a Civil War history and cannon display by the Battery “B” 3rd PA Volunteers.  Guests can also take a special tour of the grounds or create banners for The Greenbrier’s 10th Annual Grand Parade.  The Summer Lawn Party, featuring seasonal favorites like ice cream, pony rides and other activities, will commence following the parade and lead into an evening of dynamic music and dancing. Other July 4th highlights include a barbershop quartet and a first-person presentation of Mary Draper Ingalls. Phil Dirt and the Dozers will perform from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in Colonial Hall for a fun-filled buffet dinner party. Finally, the property’s Fourth of July Concert will complete the day with the musical sounds of the Charleston Metropolitan Band and a special fireworks display on the Golf Club Lawn.

Pricing for the Fourth of July Package starts at $499 per room, per night.  Guests can also select a Fourth of July Meal Plan Package, which includes breakfast and dinner daily at the resort’s restaurants.  The Meal Plan package rate is $705 based on single and $855 base on double occupancy, per night. The meal plan package rates are inclusive of all resort fees, applicable taxes and service charges.
