Exciting & Cosmopolitan Mykonos Island

Nominated once again in 2008, and for the 4th consecutive year: The No 1 European Island By Conde Naste Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2008

April 20th, 2009: Mykonos Accommodation Center (M.A.C.) – reservations and general travel services agency on Mykonos Island - informs that Mykonos 2009 has an even greater, improved infrastructure, and even more new amenities; all firmly in place for its large numbers of summer visitors.

M.A.C. owner and manager, John Van Lerberghe, with 27 years experience of tourism on Mykonos, says: “The Island’s infra-structure in 2009 is even better developed and adapted than ever before; providing ever more efficiently and comfortably for its global visitors’ varied demanding tastes and requirements. Mykonos truly has even more to offer this summer season.”

Among the Mykonos 2009 changes are 5 new five star hotels, now bringing the Island’s total to an outstanding 15, many of which feature their own spa facilities, and all are of a high international standard. The hotels’ contemporary and often minimalist design blends perfectly with the island’s traditional white and Cycladic-style architecture, so preserving the island’s natural character. Improvements not only concern the deluxe category, Mykonos’s 100 plus other category hotels and self catering properties - whether in Mykonos Town or at the island’s many beautiful beaches - have also undertaken upgrading and embellishment of their building structures and overall services.

Over the last few years Mykonos has seen an energetic bout of new construction and upgraded renovations. Culminating in 2009, these now range from top international standard star hotels and restaurants for every palate, designer shops and boutiques, to the new port with marina facilities. This latter and ambitious project located in Tourlos (2km north from Mykonos Town) is now ready for this year’s 700+ scheduled cruise ships visiting this season, plus the regular frequent ferries and catamarans docking at Mykonos, as well as the ever increasing private (or day-trip cruise) yachts and motorboats. This year it also provides a large new parking area.

A new full-on yacht and fishing boat marina is presently under construction next to the Town’s much-loved old port; it is due for completion by 2010.

Another recent marked development on Mykonos is the – available for rent - top grade and exceptional luxury villas in attractive grounds, with magnificent sea and sunset views, and most with private pool. This trend has opened a whole new tourism sector on the island and added a different approach for certain visitors to enjoy their vacation on Mykonos. It has resulted in a growth of new in-house services, whether concierge, catering, or even holistic therapies at home.

Mykonos manages to retain all its local character and style, while ever more tailoring its charm and services to the very wide span of visitor preferences that it experiences each year; the island’s emphasis is, as always, on visitors’ utmost comfort and pleasure, a vacation to always remember with delight.

Well known now for decades, hugely popular, visitor friendly and completely unique, Mykonos Island has proven the perfect fun but high quality vacation choice for all discerning holiday makers. This tradition/reputation is much alive and well in 2009.

Not only is Mykonos one of the best known Aegean islands, but is by far the most stylish and cosmopolitan; a place where holiday visitors come from the world over and often share their island space with international jet setters and celebrities.

With its superb mix of sandy beaches whether small cove style, glamorous, long and popular, very organised, with first rate restaurants and bars, or pure simplicity itself…there is beach joy experience on Mykonos for any visitor preference.

In Mykonos Town especially, the amazing variety of fine restaurants and cafes, the ultra vibrant bar and club nightlife, and the international range of fashion boutiques, top line jewellers, stylish gift shops and art galleries make Mykonos one of the unsurpassed holiday locations in Europe.
