Swisstainability: Celebrating Purity and Nature

Environmental sustainability has become a key factor in promoting a vacation destination’s appeal. Switzerland values and promotes green travel since 1291: We set high standards in environmentally sustainable travel and strive for constant improvement. Please find the newest development in Swiss sustainable tourism below.

Pure Nature
Switzerland introduces a new way of experiencing nature: In addition to the oldest and wildest National Park of Europe, many newly opened regional Nature Parks encourage an active approach to nature. Let the parks' distinctive characteristics, such as geological features and rare plants, amaze you just as much as on-site accommodation and dining. >>

Pure Hospitality
Uniquely authentic Swiss Hotels are now only a click away: “Typically Swiss” is a badge of honor for a hotel experience to be had only in Switzerland. An exclusive list of hand-selected hotels in all categories and regions offer service that is a touch more personal in a typically Swiss way. >>

Pure Action
Start training now for one of the most spectacular bike marathons: The National Park Bike Marathon. On August 29th, 2009 over 2000 participants will get ready for a tough course around the Swiss National Park with its breathtakingly rugged beauty. The fresh mountain air will help them get through the 84-mile distance with a combined difference in altitude of over 13,100 feet  >>

Pure Energy
After a three-year planning period, Hotel Europa in St. Moritz was able to inaugurate the largest solar plant in a hotel in Switzerland. Solar energy is collected on the hotels' roof to feed the hot water and heating systems as well as the pool. With an annual saving of 7,925 gallons of heating oil, Armin Bützberger, the hotel’s director, effectively counteracts rising energy costs, while decreasing the C02 emissions of the hotel complex. >>
