03-05-2009

Popular Canyon to Wine Country Package Gets an Upgrade

Santa Barbara, Calif. - March 5, 2009 - El Capitan Canyon, nature lodging just north of Santa Barbara, announces three packages for winter-weary travelers to celebrate spring on California's Central Coast and experience the Canyon dotted with spring blossoms and the creek flush from winter rains.

El Capitan Canyon's popular fall package, Canyon to Wine Country Adventure, received an upgrade and for the first time is offered in the spring. It includes a two-night stay in a Creekside King Cabin, ideal for couples as it features a gas fireplace and soaking tub. Upon arrival, guests receive two tasting passes for either the Santa Barbara Winery tasting room, located steps from the beaches of downtown Santa Barbara, or the Lafond tasting room, located at the vineyard on the hillsides of Santa Ynez wine country. Other amenities include a bottle of Santa Barbara wine upon arrival, bundle of firewood and s'mores kit to enjoy while snuggled around the fire pit. Guests also receive two signature wine glasses and a keepsake bottle opener.

The $575 package is available Sunday through Thursday, March 1 through June 18, 2009, subject to availability. Package price is based on double occupancy, does not include taxes or gratuity and excludes holidays.

The Springtime Adventure Package offers a two-night stay in one of the Creekside Cabins, which feature large soaking tubs and gas fireplaces. Rolling hills and miles of hiking trails surround the Canyon, and guests will have a private, guided 1.5-hour hike, which includes an opportunity to meet the Canyon's llamas, found grazing on the hillsides. After the hike, guests enjoy relaxing Canyon Classic Massages for two in the Creekside Cabin Spa. The package also includes two hot breakfast coupons redeemable at the Canyon Market & Deli and a nature guidebook to take home along with memories of a springtime adventure.

This package is $790 for the Creekside Queen Cabin or $855 for the Creekside King or Double Cabins (taxes and gratuity not included) and is offered Sunday through Thursday, March 1 through June 18, 2009, subject to availability and excluding holidays.

For a change of pace, guests may opt to head to the Canyon to rejuvenate the mind and body. The Relax & Renew package includes a two-night stay in a Creekside Queen Cabin and two Hot Stone Massages at the Creekside Cabin Spa. Guests receive a bottle of Happy Camper wine and two signature wine glasses.

The package is $725 (taxes and gratuity not included), available Sunday through Thursday, March 1 through June 18, 2009, subject to availability and excluding holidays.

Guests are welcome to enjoy any of the Canyon's many amenities. The recently enlarged and upgraded solar-heated swimming pool features new pool furnishings, a cabana and landscaping. The Canyon Market & Deli, which serves hot meals as well as offering groceries, camping supplies and unique gifts, has a newly expanded patio seating area. Available activities include biking through the Canyon, hiking 15 miles of trails, swimming, tidepooling at nearby El Capitan State Beach or simply sitting back to savor a glass of wine and enjoy the sounds of nature. Canyon staff can assist in planning an array of off-site day trips, including horseback riding, golf, ocean kayaking, monarch butterfly park tours, whale watching, wine tasting and tours of downtown Santa Barbara.

Heated tents and cabins are set along the creek under the sycamore trees. Accommodations provide upscale furnishings in warm earth tones and offer a variety of sleeping configurations. Both the cabins and tents are furnished with duvets, western-style blankets, linens and plush towels along with fire pits and picnic tables. Cabins have full bathrooms and kitchenettes and many also have large soaking tubs and gas fireplaces. Spacious safari tents feature electric lighting, screened windows and doors with zip-down flaps. Convenient, modern bathroom and shower facilities are located in nearby structures.
