11-09-2007

Santiago, Chile (Oct. 31, 2007) – Be one of the first to enjoy a romantic Chilean vacation that is adventurous yet relaxing at the new Tierra Atacama adventure spa hotel. Located in San Pedro de Atacama, a desert oasis in the dramatic Chilean Altiplano, Tierra Atacama is opening just in time for the perfect Valentines getaway in February 2008.

Enjoy one another’s company and the romantic atmosphere of one of the highest and driest places on earth with surreal sandscapes, salt valleys, lush river basins and massive volcanoes. Built upon an adventure spa concept, Tierra Atacama will offer guests daily excursions through the dramatic Altiplano desert, and offer a tranquil hotel and spa experience after each day of adventure.

After a day of adventure together, return to the Uma Spa (Aymara word for water) to relax and choose amongst a full menu of massages, facials, body scrubs, wraps and beauty treatments in addition to steam baths and Jacuzzis. Local elements will be incorporated into the spa treatments including desert herbs, salt from the lithium rich salt flats and volcanic mud from high in the mountains. In order for everyone to feel revitalized and rejuvenated, water therapy circuits have been developed using the different waters of the spa (hot and cold pools, Finnish and Turkish saunas, Jacuzzi).

Nighttime Romantic Adventures:

  • Search for the Southern Cross while stargazing together. The dry climate and pristine desert air make Atacama one of the best star gazing venues in the world

Leading Chilean interior designers and architects designed the hotel’s interiors and grounds with authentic Atacameñan details, striving to create luxurious spaces complemented by the dramatic desert vistas.  Each well-appointed guest rooms has its own terrace and view of the volcanic ring surrounding the Altiplano.

Rates start at US$330 per person, per day and include accommodations, three meals a day, open bar, daily excursions (either two half-day excursions or one full-day excursion), use of the spa facilities, and transfers from the Calama Airport.
