RELAIS & CHATEAUX DAZZLES IN MICHELIN RATINGS

11-07-2007

October 31, 2007 –  In an impressive first-time showing, Meadowood Napa Valley was awarded 2 Michelin stars in the just released 2008 Michelin ratings, one of only six restaurants to receive the 2 star rating. With Napa Valley cuisine designed to showcase Napa Valley wines, Chef Joseph Humphrey boasts a stellar culinary background, hailing from kitchens such as Picasso in Las Vegas and the Fifth Floor restaurant in San Francisco.  Sommelier Rom Toulon comprises another part of the team, overseeing a 900 label wine list, one of California’s most extensive..

"The acknowledgement of Meadowood in the Michelin Guide is likewise recognition of Relais & Châteaux which has succeeded in elevating fine dining to the status of art for many years now. The Relais & Châteaux chefs are not just exacting, empassioned personalities. They are also unique artists who bestow their noble imprint on hospitality and conviviality" commented Jaume Tapies, Chairman of Relais & Châteaux.

Meadowood joins other Michelin-rated Relais & Châteaux restaurants in the San Francisco area, including The French Laundry (3 stars); Cyrus (2 stars); Auberge du Soleil (1 star) and Gary Danko (1 star).

The San Francisco Michelin ratings were a follow up to the New York City ratings, in which Relais & Châteaux properties also excelled.  Per Se, Jean Georges and Le Bernardin were each awarded 3 stars, and are the only 3 restaurants in the top category. Thomas Keller, for the 2nd consecutive year, claims the distinction of being the only chef to have two 3-star  restaurants.

Other NYC  Relais & Châteaux recipients  include Restaurant Daniel with 2 stars and Aureole with 1 star.
