Eco-friendly LEDs Light Up Gatlinburg

Here's the question facing Gatlinburg, Tennessee's town fathers: what can we do to improve upon our already-famous annual four-month long citywide winter lights spectacular?

Their Winter Magic transformation of city streets into lighting displays reminiscent of winter forests, evergreens and romance, an endeavor which has grown in popularity every year since its inception in 1989, deserved a new look. But how to change an attraction that's pleased hundreds of thousands of visitors annually?

Floats in the Gatlinburg Christmas Parade generate the imagination needed to fully appreciate the marvels of the Winter Magic spectacular.


Why, start over, of course, with more than a million dollars worth of imagination and an eye on protecting our environment with the use of LED (light emitting diode) bulbs.

With the 100 percent conversion of Gatlinburg Winter Magic from incandescent to LED, the City has launched a milestone transformation to a new era of winter-long visual entertainment for its must-see collection of bright, colorful lights and favorite winter scenes.
