Uber Antarctica: Join Top Polar Explorers At Bottom of the

11-07-2007

Toronto, November 6, 2007 -- Fathom Expeditions, the leader in custom polar
travel and recipient of National Geographic's award for "Greatest Antarctic
Trip in the World," has created a singular expedition to the far reaches of
Antarctica celebrating International Polar Year.

Priced from US$5,595/UK£2681 Fathom Expeditions' Spirit of Shackleton
Antarctic expedition sails January 30 through February 10, 2008, the prime of
the Antarctic summer when wildlife and sunshine peak.  Passengers travel
aboard the ice-class rated 82-passenger MV Ushuaia stopping at seldom-
visited remote regions of the Antarctic Peninsula, the Weddell Sea,
Antarctica's Danco Coast and Elephant Island.

In support of International Polar Year (IPY), Fathom Expeditions is
encouraging travelers to visit the white bottom of the world offering an
incentive of US$500 for bookings made now through December 31.
Passengers can opt for savings of $500 or Fathom Expeditions will donate the
money to the Conservation Alliance in the passenger's name.

Rekindling the spirit of exploration and marking his 60th visit to Antarctica,
Fathom Expeditions' founder David German will lead the IPY Antarctic cruise
joined by an illustrious hand-picked team of veteran polar explorers, wildlife
experts, historians and scientists. World-renowned mountain guide David
Hahn will add to the adventure leading travelers on guided walks and hikes at
each landing; Passengers can expect to make two to three landings a day.

While Antarctica by its very nature is a place of extreme wonder (Read five-
mile-long icebergs, three-foot Emperor penguins, 40-foot-long whales and
millions of penguins) the collective wisdom and peerless passion of this
expedition team is certain to set this voyage apart.  The expedition team will
focus on the four cornerstones of IPY which are wildlife, science, history and
ice.  Passengers will visit some of the research sites of IPY scientists and
polar veterans will share their eyewitness accounts of the effects of climate
change.

The package price includes a pre-cruise hotel and welcome dinner, 10 nights
at sea, all meals, shore excursions, lectures and airport transfers. Fabulous
Argentine food and wine add to the experience as does an attentive staff.
Fathom Expeditions' travel partners will gladly assist with air.

Fathom Expeditions was born on the inspiration of the great Antarctic
explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. Drawing on over 100 previous Antarctic
expeditions and a strong passion for exploration and learning, the company is
