NORFOLK, VIRGINIA: HALF THE PRICE, ALL OF THE HOLIDAY FUN

12-05-2008

~Visitors Who Book Overnight Stay at Participating Norfolk Hotels Receive 50 Percent Off Citywide Holiday Events and Activities~

NORFOLK, VA.  December 4, 2008 – Ushering in another joyous winter season, the Norfolk Convention & Visitors Bureau (NCVB) has expanded its current Half Off Norfolk promotion, which offers guests who book overnight stays at participating hotels with 50 percent off area attractions, to also include discounted entry to citywide holiday events and activities.  From discounted admission to the Virginia Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker to holiday dinner cruises aboard The Spirit of Norfolk for only $28 (regular admission $56), visitors can enjoy all the holiday fun Norfolk has to offer for only half the price.  The Half Off Norfolk promotion is valid for stays through January 31, 2008.

“Due to the current economy, families this year may feel as though their favorite holiday activities should be scaled back or skipped altogether,” said Donna Allen, vice president of marketing and sales for the NCVB. “Through our Half Off Norfolk promotion, visitors can still enjoy their beloved holiday traditions without having to stretch their budget.  With citywide savings that includes our downtown maritime museum, theatres, harbor cruises and sporting events – and now paired with additional holiday discounts – many may actually find that they have a little room left over for some holiday shopping.”

Already dressed for the season with more than 80,000 white lights that magically illuminate its downtown skyline, Norfolk is an easy drive and less than a tank of gas from multiple East Coast destinations, such as Washington, DC.  Hundreds of nonstop flights are also available daily from New York City, Newark, Atlanta, Charlotte and Washington DC.  The seaport city’s holiday season is brimming with special performances, holiday harbor cruises, ice-skating, shopping and dining, many of which are eligible for the 50 percent off deal, including:
