All Aboard! Scenic Railroads in Ohio

When the leaves turn and your kids have a weekend off from soccer practice, there's no better time to get away for an afternoon, whole day or even a weekend in Ohio! One of the best ways to experience the fall foliage show with kids in tow is to hop aboard a train and take a trip along one of Ohio's scenic railroads.

To pick pumpkins for Halloween while you're on your train ride, head to Findlay's Pumpkin Train! This quarter-scale train takes kids through a pumpkin patch where they can pick the biggest, orangest pumpkin they can carry.

The Bluebird Trail in Waterville (near Toledo) takes its passengers on a spooky trip through the woods, dropping them off at a corn maze, haunted house and hayride.

In southeast Ohio, the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad departs from Nelsonville and travels to Haydenville and Logan along one of the Midwest's most scenic rivers. The train dates to the 1920s, and also stops in Robbins Crossing, a historic 1840s pioneer village.

Or your family can pick their pumpkins with a ride on the Lebanon Mason Moore Railroad in southwest Ohio. The Pumpkin Patch Express makes a stop at the Schappacher Farm in Mason.

So pull out your whistles and mind the cow catchers, and Follow this link to plan your three-day getaway in Ohio this fall! Ohio is too much fun for just one day!
