Horseshoe Bay, Texas – October 4, 2008 – Texas wineries and Horseshoe Bay Resort are hosting the Fourth Annual Texas Fall Fest & Wine Auction from October 31 through November 2 where seasoned chefs and Texas vineyards and eateries are set to please the palates of festival-goers.  Presented by the Texas Wine & Grape Growers Association, the festival celebrates regional wines and fare with top Texas culinary wizards participating in wine pairing classes, tastings, cooking demonstrations, book signings and more.

 

Texas chefs, eateries, and winemakers will join forces to offer guests the best of the Lone Star State at the Sunset Stroll at Horseshoe Bay Resort, where foodies can sample the festival’s best while enjoying music under the stars.  There, the resort’s Executive Chef Robbin Murphy will serve-up delectable dishes from Lantana Grill.  Joining Chef Murphy will be cooks from regional restaurants Hudson’s on the Bend, Acme Café & Grill, August E’s, Bonterra Restaurant, Boot Ranch, Brother’s Bakery & Café, The Cabernet Grill, Clifford’s Original Wine Bar, Dutch’s Hamburger’s, Navajo Grill, The Range at Barton House, Rather Sweet Bakery and Café, Rough Creek Lodge, Silver K Café, and Trois Estate at Enchanted Rock.  

 

Celebrity Chef and native Texan Grady Spears, aka the “Cowboy Cook,” will headline the Saturday events including a cooking demonstration and luncheon, and a special dinner for the Wine Auction Gala.  Spears has written five cookbooks including The Texas Cowboy Kitchen, has appeared on top-tier TV shows including Good Morning America, has been featured in the pages of Martha Stewart Living, Gourmet magazine and The New York Times, to name a few. 

 

Closing the three-day event is a not-to-be-missed visual spectacular: Chef’s Challenge: Old World Chuckwagon vs. New World Viking Range Grilling, sponsored by the Texas Beef Council. 

Top Texas chefs Jason Dady and Paul Petersen will go head-to-head as they prepare an entrée, side, and dessert in their respective style.  Chef Dady, executive chef and owner of The Lodge, Bin 555, and Tre Trattoria will square-off on behalf of the new world on the Viking grill.  Chef Petersen, executive chef from the famed Gage Hotel, will bring his rustic yet refined cooking style to the challenge as he practices old world cowboy techniques on the Chuckwagon.  Chef Tiffany Collins, TBC's Culinary Director and "Miss Jane" Nickles, wine instructor at the Texas Culinary Academy and the owner of "WineSpeak 101" will fire up the chefs and the crowd taking the challenge to the limit!  Some of the participating area winemakers include Spicewood Vineyard, Fall Creek Vineyards, Alamosa Wine Cellars, Becker Vineyards, Inwood Estates Winery, Llano Estacado Winery, Lost Creek Vineyards, McReynolds Winery, Flat Creek Estates, Bell Mountain Vineyards, and Texas Hills Vineyard.  The festival will contribute part of the proceeds to benefit the local Boys & Girls Club and Texas wine research.
