Breakaway Adventure's "Gastronomic Walk in Tuscany"

05-16-2008

Features Free Bottle of Tuscan Wine with Each Evening Meal

Walking tours offered May 3 to Oct. 11 - more info at www.Breakaway-Adventures.com

A new walking tour now available in picturesque Tuscany features a complimentary bottle of delicious Tuscan wine with each evening meal for each party - a total of seven free bottles of wine per booking.

Breakaway Adventures, a U.S.-based tour company that specializes in walking and cycling tours in Europe, has teamed up with Hotel Locanda Senio in Palazzo sul Senio to offer the upcoming "Gastronomic Walk in Tuscany" tour.

The week-long tour is offered May 3 through October 11 and is set in northern Tuscany between Bologna, Faenza and Florence. Participants will see a sun-kissed landscape of sunflower fields and timeless hill towns set below the majestic Apennine hills.  Departures range from $2,057 to $2,360 per person based on two people sharing a double room.

For additional information on the Tuscany tour, contact Carol Keskitalo, the firm's Italy specialist, at carol@breakaway-adventures.com or (800) 567-6286. Also visit www.breakaway-adventures.com for more info.

Varied walks will lead participants through flower filled woodland, along ancient mule tracks, past deserted stone farmhouses, and across panoramic ridges offering long distance views - perfect for shady picnics. And each day will end with a free bottle of local wine. Breakaway Adventures expects to give away 1,300 bottles of wine as part of this special offer.

"This exciting tour is perfect for wine enthusiasts who will be able to sample a different bottle of Tuscan wine with each evening meal, following their daily walking tour through one of the most beautiful regions in the world," said Keskitalo, co-owner of Breakaway Adventures, located in South Carolina.

The walking tour ends each day in the town of Palazzo sul Senio, a medieval village of narrow cobbled streets and carved stone archways, and home to Hotel Locanda Senio, a boutique 8-room hotel run by Ercole and Roberta. The hotel, with a loyal following both locally and internationally, is noted for Ercole's hospitality and Roberta's mouthwatering cuisine, based on the gastronomic traditions of Tuscany and the neighboring province of Emilia Romagna.  The hotel has recently opened its own "spa" including a small outdoor pool, sun terrace, jacuzzi and sauna.

The independent tour includes pick up and drop off at the Bologna airport (as outlined in the tour description), breakfast and dinner each day, and fully researched walking route notes and maps. Also included are cooking demonstrations, wine and olive oil tasting sessions and a gala dinner on the last night of the tour.

Founded in 1997, Breakaway Adventures specializes in off-the-beaten-path gastronomic walking and cycling holidays, with more than 200 trips to 30 countries in Europe and the Mediterranean.
