WHAT'S NEW UNDER THE SUMMER SUN

05-14-2008

Sun Valley adds music, golf and gondolas to its extensive list of amenities
Sun Valley/Ketchum, Idaho, home to America's original destination ski resort,
have plenty of exciting new developments for the upcoming 2008 summer
season.
Construction of Bald Mountain Gondola will expand mountain top dining
Sun Valley Company will begin construction for Bald Mountain's Gondola in
September 2008.  Originating at the base of River Run and climbing to the
Top Terminal Plaza at the Roundhouse Restaurant, the gondola project will
encompass the two terminals, new restrooms and new access to
Roundhouse. Roundhouse, which first opened in 1939 and has only been open
during the winter, will be open for summer dining upon completion of the
gondola for mountain top dining. Plans for the plaza and the remodel of the
Roundhouse have not yet been finalized. Upon finalization they will be
submitted to the Forest Service for a 45-day review.
Sun Valley Will Unveil $11 Million Symphony Pavilion
The new, architecturally stunning, seasonal Sun Valley Music Pavilion will be
ready to host beautiful music in time for the 2008 Summer Symphony. The
facility will be a technological and structural accomplishment, and will
demonstrate how a permanent and seasonal structure can be integrated to
offer the best of both worlds: use of wood for symphonic acoustic blending
and a tensile membrane for luminous reflective space. The Sun Valley Summer
Symphony will host its season at the facility along with other community and
arts events, and the surrounding landscape will be sculpted into an undulating
park gently elevated like a natural amphitheatre, so you'll be able see Trail
Creek Canyon, Dollar Mountain and Baldy while you relax with your picnic
basket and enjoy orchestral music. The facility, located near the Sun Valley
Lodge, will house 1500 seats.
Sun Valley to open one of the country's newest nine hole golf courses
Sun Valley's new nine-hole addition to the Sun Valley Golf Course is well
underway with an opening scheduled for early August 2008.  Breathtaking
views atop a stunning ridgeback on the new nine promise to rival any course
in the country.  A new stone 58,756 sq. ft. clubhouse also is underway with a
completion date of mid-summer 2008. The building will double as headquarters
for the Sun Valley Nordic Center in winter and will provide all the amenities for
both activities including a restaurant, bar, pro shop and an indoor driving
range.
Phase II of 4th Street Heritage Corridor will enhance downtown Ketchum
Downtown Ketchum is planning on millions of dollars in improvements over the
next 5 years, beginning with the development of a pedestrian
gathering/walkway that, when complete, will extend 8 blocks through the
heart of downtown Ketchum. The public space, which includes a central town
plaza, provides a spot for outdoor concerts, festivals and markets, and a
charming atmosphere for walking, shopping or just hanging out enjoying the
views of Baldy and surrounding mountains. The first two-block phase opened
in July 2007. The second phase of this development has begun in Spring 2008
and will extend another 2 blocks to the east side of Main Street, with an
estimated completion date of July 1st, 2008.
