FIRST-EVER TALLAHASSEE FILM FESTIVAL OFFERS 65 FILMS IN THREE DAYS

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – May 8, 2008 – The first-ever Tallahassee Film Festival electrifies the culturally innovative capital city, May 15-17, 2008, with 65 cinematic adventures provided by professional and rising talent hosted at four different venues around the area over three days. Bringing together media professionals from around the country, university leaders and community members in an exciting and meaningful event, the Film Festival is sure to become a Tallahassee tradition. Activities include open-air movie screenings, entertainment, food vendors and exhibits (http://VisitTallahassee.com).

Celebrating emerging talent in the film, music and related arts industries, the festival kicks off on Thursday, May 15, with the premiere screening of The Good Fight – a documentary film about legendary FSU football coach Bobby Bowden – at The FSU Askew Student Life Center, followed by an invitation-only VIP and Sponsor Reception, a gathering of celebrities, filmmakers and state leaders at 621 Gallery in Railroad Square. Downtown events include screenings of 65 films starring celebrities such as Ellen Page and Helen Hunt, live music, contests and exhibits culminates on Saturday, May 17, at 7 p.m. at The Mary Brogan Museum of Arts and Sciences with the "It’s A Wrap!" party and closing awards ceremony. Thursday through Saturday nights, visitors choose from 65 films – either free or $4 – being screened simultaneously at The FSU Askew Student Life Center, Heritage Hall – R.A. Gray Building, All Saints Cinema near Railroad Square and the FAMU School of Journalism and Graphic Communication Lecture Hall.

The Florida Commerce Credit Union is sponsoring this inaugural event that aims to harness the creativity of university students and position Tallahassee as a culturally groundbreaking community.  In coordination with StarFest/Downtown GetDown, the festival adds to the promising weekend that draws visitors and showcases the city and surrounding area at a pleasantly vibrant point in the season.
