FROM THE DIRECTOR

To counterbalance our last newsletter for female travelers, the Tourism Authority of Thailand would like to provide updates on attractions and activities that would appeal to our male visitors. For those who love adventurous outdoor sports, they will find many options in Thailand. Between rock climbing, trekking and scuba diving, the country has enough action for any active gentleman. For men looking for a more sophisticated experience, we have included the best choices in Thailand for golf, wine tasting, and yachting. We hope you find this newsletter informative and helpful for your clients. Please feel free to reach out at 1-800-THAILAND or visit www.tourismthailand.org.

GOLF

If golf is a priority for your clients, then the Thai Kingdom is the ideal destination in Asia. Games have been recorded at the Bangkok Royal Golf Club as early as 1905 and the first recognized 18-hole course, the Royal Hua Hin, was built by a Scottish engineer in 1924. There are now 200 golf courses scattered throughout Thailand. Many are designed by famous players like Nick Faldo, Gary Player, Greg Norman, Pete Dye, Robert Trent Jones and many others.

Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the course at the Kirimaya is over 7000 yards long and is of championship standard. A combination of beautiful scenery, a challenging golf course, and luxurious accommodation make this one of the top golf resorts in Thailand.

Host of the 2000 and 2004 Johnnie Walker Classic, Alpine Golf & Sports Club is a must-play for any serious golfer visiting or living in Bangkok. For golfers who have the privilege to play, the experience should prove unforgettable for all skill levels.
