Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal Officially Inaugurated

04-26-2008

Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker Present for Prestigious Event

LUXEMBOURG, April 25, 2008 – The inauguration ceremony for the Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal took place yesterday on the 8th floor of the hotel, against the background of a spectacular view of the capital of Luxembourg. Numerous personalities from the world of economics and politics were present at the invitation of Mr Yann Caillère, CEO of Sofitel and member of the executive committee of Accor, Mr Robert Gaymer-Jones, general manager of Sofitel Monde and Mr Ralph Radtke, director of operations of Sofitel Northern Europe, Central Europe and Eastern Europe.

For Sofitel, this event had symbolic value as Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal represents the new ambitions of the brand: To become a new international reference in luxury hotels by 2010.

Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal opened its doors on February 14, on the Boulevard d’Avranches, just a stone's throw from the historic heart of the city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Overlooking the Pétrusse and Alzette valleys, the five-star hotel benefits from its unrivalled location. From the restaurant or the bar, travelers can take in the extraordinary panoramic view of the historic quarters of the High City and the Low City, demarcated by the city walls of the former stronghold of Luxembourg. Not far from the railway station serviced by East-European TGV, the hotel is also situated in the immediate vicinity of the headquarters of large multinational companies, banks, ministries and many luxury boutiques in the city center.

Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal, established in the heart of one of the three multicultural and cosmopolitan capitals of the European Union, has a distinctive identity, harmoniously combining the “French Touch” and new technologies in a decidedly contemporary setting.

The interior architecture, which combines comfort with aesthetics and is simple but refined, has been designed by Hermes Award winner Philippe Capron of the French architecture company Inter Art. As a graduate of the Ecole Boulle, Philippe Capron has a track record boasting many prestigious references in the international hotel sector.

The modernity of Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal is particularly conveyed through the decoration of its 128 rooms and suites and the sophisticated facilities from which they benefit. This can also be seen at the dining table, in the inventive and inspired cuisine prepared by Antoine Westermann, the great French star chef sponsoring the restaurant, Top Floor, at Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal. This space is characterised by its elegant designer furniture and three private dining rooms. The restaurant is dedicated to gastronomic culture and the pleasure of taste, which go hand in hand with the art of hospitality at Sofitel.

Inside the hotel, other areas also contribute to this lifestyle, particularly sought and appreciated by clients who place their trust in Sofitel. Located on the ground floor, the warm and charming T’Room is the perfect place to relax. In the same spirit, the comfortable Board Meeting Room located on the first floor, adjoining the hotel’s two Prestige suites, is designed to offer professional meetings in an exceptionally luxurious and confidential setting.

On another level, the panoramic and trendy bar, Coco Mango or the fitness area offer relaxation and well-being, making Sofitel Luxembourg the ideal meeting place to enjoy the attractions of the capital of Luxembourg.
