TOLL-FREE NUMBER AVAILABLE TO HEAR ABOUT FESTIVALS IN HAWAII

04-25-2008

HONOLULU, HI -  A new toll-free number has been created to get the latest information on festivals throughout the State of Hawaii.

The number 1-877-FEST FUN (337-8386) gives callers a listing of Hawai'i Tourism Authority (HTA) sponsored festivals, by island, on a weekly basis.  The information is up-dated every Sunday.  Callers can find out locations of festivals, entry fees (if applicable) and detailed information about the festival.

The toll-free number is a recent addition to the "Festivals of Hawaii" program sponsored by the HTA.  Annually, the HTA supports more than 75 festivals and events throughout the State of Hawaii with over $3.5 million in funding, including the Banana Poka Roundup on Kauai in May, the Maui Film Festival in June, the Lanai Pineapple Festival in July, the Hawaii Dragon Boat Festival on Oahu in October, and the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival on Hawaii Island in November.

In addition to cultural enrichment, the festivals showcase an array of lifestyles and often feature food, craft vendors and entertainment.
